It’s always good to set goals for yourself, both as a person, but in a business as well. Artists aren’t an exception to this, and so I wanted to take a moment to check in and see how I am doing/have been doing on some of my goals for this year, so you’ll come along with me…
Art in resistance
One of the things that I wanted to do shortly after the current administration took office and started slashing programs that help people was looking for some way to make art for a reason. When identity months were completely removed in the DoD in late January, I decided that I would try to do a piece of art that focused on those groups each month.
It’s been hit or miss. To be honest, I think I’ve lost steam on it and have moved on to something else. But in the process I did create these:

Game of Shrooms
One of the things I wanted to do this year was participate in Game of Shrooms. GoS is a fun art scavenger hunt where artists hide mushroom themed pieces around town for people to find and take home. So to prepare I made 8 Artist Trading Cards that I hid around town - all were found, and it was a fun time for everyone, though I think next year, I will do multiple cards of the same painting rather than 8 different cards, to avoid having people want to “collect them all” like they’re pokemon, lol

Markets
May through November is market season, and this year I have been trying to do more markets. Typically I would do our local first fruday and then one other per month, but this year I am trying to fill in one or two more saturdays with bigger markets. I’ve had some success, though a couple months I’ve just stuck with the 2 per. Markets are one of my primary income sources which is why I’ve been trying to increase the number of markets. If you see me out at one, stop in and say hi!
Overall, I didn’t have any major goals beyond these… I had my originals sale at the beginning of summer, and plan for another later in fall and winter maybe. I’ve added stickers to the website, and am working on expanding to earrings as well. We’'ll see what happens from here on for the rest of the year!
